Increase productivity with Mass Flow Metering (MFM)
The Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore has long believed the use of the Mass Flow Metering (MFM) systems for bunkering will increase productivity and enhance transparency in the bunkering process, in addition to improving operational efficiency.
As from the 1st of January 2017 the use of Coriolis Mass Flow Meters will be mandatory for marine fuel oil (MFO) delivery in the Port of Singapore.
Alongside this development, the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) has published a standard operating procedure (SOP) for use by Singapore based bunker quantity surveyors involved in mass flow meter bunkering operations.
Along with other industry bodies, Intertek ShipCare contributed to this SOP.
Intertek ShipCare is able to provide Bunker surveyors to inspect, measure, sample, investigate and report as required on bunkering operations where mass flow meters will be used and we will be pleased to assist fuel purchasers in ensuring the IBIA standard operating procedure is complied with during bunker operations in Singapore.
